WMG Membership Information

West Midlands Group is recognised as one of the leading grower groups in WA. It prides itself on ensuring members like you, receive up to date information on soil conservation and pasture research, natural resource management, horticulture research and the provision of a network that support rural and remote women.

Our local focus ensures you get up to date information that’s relevant to your business. You’ll save hours of your valuable time normally wasted trying to find the information you really need.

West Midlands Group has four program areas, each represented by a sub-committee:

  • Soil Conservation Research and Development (R&D) committee.
  • Livestock/Erosion Research and Development (R&D) committee.
  • Women’s committee
  • Horticulture/Water Resources committee

These programs operate to provide the following services to our members:

Local research – coordinating local agricultural research and development.

Investment in research partnering with industry, government and research entities to grow soil research investment in our region.

Funding support – assisting members to obtain funding to address local sustainable farming issues.

Advocacy – making sure the needs and priorities of the West Midlands region are being heard and addressed at all levels of Government.

‘Bottom line’ events – locally focused events for our members, including:

  • Soil Conservation events
  • Women, Wellbeing & Wine (WWW) forum
  • Spring Field Day
  • In-season field walks and information sessions

 

Membership Options

There are two levels of membership available:

Full Membership

Priority access to local research and results targeted to the West Midlands. Soil conservation trials conducted at WMG main trial site, long-term site at the Badgingarra Research Station, and on-farm ‘supplementary’ trial and demonstration sites.

  • Opportunity to host ‘supplementary’ soil conservation trial sites on your farm.  This gives you first access to new and cutting edge ways to improve sustainable farming.
  • Opportunity to identify R&D priorities most relevant to your farm.
  • ‘Over the fence’ benefits – opportunity to interact and network with a group of progressive and dynamic people who share your aims of protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
  • Networking and access opportunities with WMG industry and research partners.
  • Substantially discounted entry to WMG Group events (for up to three people from your farming business) including: Soil Updates; in-season field walks and bus tour; Spring Field Day; and Women’s Wellbeing and Wine Forum.
  • Access to high quality training and extension workshops targeted to your needs.
  • Copy of WMG trial results publication, ‘WMG Research Annual’.
  • Copy of field day booklets.
  • Improved opportunity to obtain R&D and NRM funding and assistance in developing funding applications for your farm business.
  • Quarterly e-newsletter and e-updates.
  • Copy of WMG annual report.
  • Opportunity to contribute and drive the future of farming in your region.
  • 1 free members ticket to Spring Field Day

Annual fee: $300 (inclusive of GST)
 
 

Corporate Membership

Available to corporations that operate or service the West Midlands region.

  • Access to local soil conservation research and results targeted to the West Midlands. Trials conducted at WMG main trial site, long-term trial site (Badgingarra Research Station) and on-farm ‘supplementary’ sites.
  • Opportunity to interact and network with WMG members and research partners.
  • Opportunity to contribute to WMG project development and funding applications.
  • Free or substantially discounted entry to West Midlands Group events including: Soil Updates; in-season field walks and bus tour; Spring Field Day; and Women’s Wellbeing and Wine Forum.
  • Access to high quality training and extension workshops.
  • Free copy of West Midlands Group trial results publication, ‘WMG Research Annual’.
  • Free copy of field day booklets.
  • Quarterly e-newsletter and e-updates.
  • Copy of WMG annual report.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the future of environmental sustainability in the West Midlands region and wider Northern Agricultural Region.
