The West Midlands Group works closely with a range of corporate partners to provide to provide the best possible information, events and value to the members of the West Midlands Group and the wider West Midlands community.

Organisational Partner

Shire of Dandaragan has been a key supporter of the West Midlands Group since its inception in 2003. The Shire provides the West Midlands Group with valuable funding support which enables the organisation to provide ongoing NRM and agricultural services to the communities of the Shire. West Midlands Group is currently working with the Shire to develop a best practice road verge management policy.

Summit were West Midlands Group's first agribusiness corporate partner, having identified the need for a grower group in the West Midlands region. Summit's support ahs been integral to the establishment and growth of the R&D and Women's programs. cbh_webCBH Group is one of Australia's leading grain organisations and is proud to be a West Midlands Group 'Harvest' partner. With their extensive expertise in grain handling, storage, marketing and processing, CBH Group is strong supporters of WMG's R&D program. CBH Group has also extended it's commitment to the community of the West Midlands region as the Principle sponsor of the Women, Wellbeing & Wine forum.

They provide support to the Women's program which is responsible for the Women, Wellbeing & Wine forum and other extension & training opportunities. Tiwest has also been a key supporter of WMG's schools NRM program which aims to increase the knowledge and skills of young people in our community through proactive and positive NRM activity.

McIntosh & Son's expertise and knowledge of seeding machinery and the local West Midlands conditions has added great value to the 2011 R&D program. As part of the 2011 and 2012 partnership a seeding bar demonstration is being established at the main trial site to compare the Morris Contour Drill with other seeding systems.mcintosh_web

sacoa_logoSACOA is a leading developer and supplier of spray oil and adjuvants in Australia. SACOA are committed to working with the West Midlands Group to address water repellency which is a key productivity issue in the region. WMG are coordinating local trials of SACOA's blanket applied surfactant LureH2O and it's in-furrow surfactant 'Irrigator'.

Funding Partners

West Midlands Group in partnership with the Northern Agricultural Catchment Council hosts two Natural Resource Management Officers to deliver targets under the Australian Government's Caring for our Country Program.

The GRDC and the Australian Government's Climate Change Research Program fund the National Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative (NAMI) being coordinated by the Birchip Cropping Group.Through the NAMI project a national network of demonstration sites coordinated by key farm groups ( of which West Midlands Group is one) have been established in each state. This network is examining new and alternative strategies for farmers in the Australian broad-acre and wheat/sheep zone to mitigate the negative effects and capitalise on the opportunities of climate change on their production systems.

West Midlands Group currently manages two projects that are funded by the State Government of WA through the State NRM Office:

  • Sustaining our environment and agricultural assets through vermin control in the West Midlands (10017)
  • Protecting on-farm remnant vegetation in the West Midlands region to enhance wildlife habitat (10018)
