Compilation of lime trials

Location: Kwinana West

Project Start Date: May 2016

Project End Date: May 2017

Funding: sourced from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC).

Project Aim: The project  involves the compilation of a booklet collating as many lime source and lime incorporation trials and a number of case studies in the Kwinana West port zone of Western Australia. Through providing this information to growers, it will assist them to make more informed decisions that will contribute to protecting the natural soil resource. Soil acidity is a significant environmental issue in the WA wheatbelt, which can be overcome by the targeted application of lime into the soil.

The booklet will include:

– On-farm and small plot lime trials from 1995 until present day.

– On-farm and small plot trials on incorporation options for lime.

– At least 10 farmer case studies from across the Kwinana West port zone describing how they undertook incorporation of lime on their property.
