Long term soil fertility lessons for West Midlands sands
Project Start Date: October 2014
Project End Date: May 2016
Funding: Northern Agricultural Catchments Council (NACC)
Project Aim: to revisit an existing trial that was established in the 1980’s to assess fertility changes. It will also give insights into the long term effects of using alternative, slow release (“ecological”) phosphorus sources compared with the water soluble fertilisers, which are currently in use, but leachable on these sandy soils. This project contributes to enhancing our natural environment through providing information to landholders to assist them in improving nutrient use efficiency and preventing nutrient leaching and eutrophication of waterways.
