GRDC “Irrigator trials” 2012

Location: Northern area of Kwinana West zone

Project Start Date: April 2012

Project End Date: April 2013

Project Aim: The aim of the project is to demonstrate if the application of banded wetting agent is beneficial in dealing with non-wetting soils of the West Midlands region by the application of SACOA Irrigator in the base of the furrow behind the press wheel.

There are two trials sown to barley and perennial pastures with four replicates of the label rate of in-furrow surfactant and untreated control. The trials have been monitored throughout the season for crop emergence, crop vigour, yield and grain quality.

In addition, two paddock scale demonstrations have been established to wheat and canola which have been monitored and harvested to give in-paddock comparisons to replicated plot trials.
