R&D Trials PDF Print E-mail

Over the last 10 years the West Midlands farming community have witnessed a change from traditional stock based operations to mixed enterprise farming operations with an increasing focus on broad acre cropping. As such WMG identified a need in our membership base for access to localised agricultural research and development initiatives and data.

After member and community consultation in 2008 the WMG Board decided to undertake re-structure the organisation to reflect a grower group model. Since January 2009, a full-time Executive Officer has been employed to coordinate the trials program and oversee the management of the organisation, the organisation has become a member of the Grower Group Alliance, and a ‘R&D' arm has been developed to compliment WMG's strong traditional NRM service delivery.

The role of the ‘R&D' arm is to: deliver a local trials program that addresses R&D needs of this high rainfall region; and to better coordinate communications between farmers, government agencies and agribusiness. With the support of Department of Agriculture & Food WA, our corporate partners and dedicated and driven core of local farmers WMG is delivering its second coordinated trials program in 2010 see our 2010 Trials webpage to find out more.
