The West Midlands Group has taken the bold step of introducing a ‘supplementary' trial site for 2011. Such is our success in attracting relevant trials to our R&D program that we have outgrown our two paddocks at the Badgingarra Research Station.
Long-term trial work is a major focus of the West Midlands Group, and as such we will continue to establish and maintain long-term trials at the Research Station. Short-term/ one-year trials (such as variety trials) will be based at the ‘supplementary site' which will be located at a member's property and will change annually- the R&D committee is responsible for selecting this site. This also allows members to see how trials perform on different soil types.
The 2011 ‘supplementary site' is a yellow sandplain site at Jeff Fordham's property ‘Wathingarra' located on North West Road (see map). The site has excellent road frontage so you'll be able to keep track of the trials as the season progresses.
